Fasting 5K is set for June 10, 2017!

Boston, Washington DC, New York City, Chicago, Toronto, Bay Area, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Detroit, Columbus and Buffalo are on!

In 2013, a local Boston nonprofit was lacking resources to fulfill it’s mission of children’s education and sought help from the community. While breaking their fast during a night in Ramadan, a group of seven friends thought about how they could help. It occurred to them that they could capture the spirit of the month by building community, promoting charitable giving and helping those in need. Combined with the age old Boston tradition of running, Fasting5k was born!

Since then, F5k has helped nonprofits and communities across the country and abroad to further their missions of youth development. From education, poverty & homelessness to mental health, F5k has raised hundreds of thousands through grassroots volunteer efforts to bring communities together for good.

This year, F5k is focused on partnering with youth civic engagement programs in Boston, D.C., San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Chicago, Columbus, Detroit, Atlanta, New York, Buffalo and Toronto as well as our international charity, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).

WAGGGS is the only global movement geared entirely to every girl and any girl. Fasting 5k will be supporting Voices against Violence, a one-of-a-kind program to improve young people’s knowledge, awareness and attitudes on violence against women. This program helps young people globally develop their civic engagement skills as they take the lead themselves in changing the global conversation on violence against girls and young women.

We’re excited to build on the political energy of today to build the leaders of tomorrow. We hope you’ll join us!
